Woman arrested after allegedly stealing alcohol, cigarettes and attempting to run over clerk

VICTORVILLE — A 49-year-old woman was arrested Monday evening after authorities said she allegedly stole alcohol and cigarettes from a market before trying to run the store clerk over with her car.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials said Netheldia Porter, 49, was arrested in the 14500 block of Seventh Street just before 5 p.m. after deputies received calls that she reportedly robbed the M&D Market on Green Tree Boulevard. According to Sheriff's officials, deputies arrived at the market around 4:37 p.m. after the clerk called to say Porter allegedly stole a bottle of liquor and a pack of cigarettes. As the clerk ran outside to stop Porter, Porter allegedly tried to run the clerk over with her car.

The Sheriff's Department's helicopter was called to help search for Porter, and authorities said she was found in her car on Seventh Street and arrested. She was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. County jail records show she is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon in Victorville.
