Deputies arrested a man who allegedly attacked his girlfriend with a stick and tried to strangle her, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said.
A woman called 9-1-1 to report the attack at a residence in the 700 block of Deer Trail, according to a news release.
She said her boyfriend, Kyle Thompson, was refusing to leave and was trying to prevent her from calling authorities. She said she had been attacked with a wooden, baton-style weapon and that Thompson attempted to strangle her.
Thompson left the home before deputies arrived, officials said.
Deputies spotted Thompson in the area. But when he saw the lawmen, Thompson reportedly ran off.
Deputies kept the home under observation, and Thompson was spotted by deputies around 1:30 a.m. outside a residence in the 700 block of Big Oak Drive. The Sheriff’s helicopter assisted, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Thompson was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of attempted murder, due to the nature of the attack on the victim. Bail was set at $1,000,000.
