Former Ontario police officer arrested for sex with minor

Tyler Stone recently resigned from the Ontario Police Department

Tyler Stone turned himself into authorities Thursday night after the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office issued a warrant for his arrest. He's accused of having sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Investigators first heard about the allegations on November 8 of last year. The Ontario Police Department immediately placed Stone on administrative leave, and on December 9 asked the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department to investigate.

Detectives learned that Stone met the victim while he was on duty and later developed a sexual relationship with her. Authorities said the illegal acts occurred in the city of Ontario and at Stone's residence in Rancho Cucamonga.

According to the release, Stone resigned from the Ontario Police Department on December 22.

He turned himself in on February 19, the same day the warrant was issued for his arrest. The district attorney's office has charged him with unlawful sex with a minor and molestation of a child.

Stone was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and posted his bail of $150,000. He was released from jail at 3:25 a.m. Friday. Officials said his arraignment date hasn't been set.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to call Detective John Everman or Sergeant Dana Foster at 909-387-3615. If you want to remain anonymous, call the We-tip Hotline at 1-800-782-7463.
