San Bernardino police, CHP investigate crashes

SAN BERNARDINO >> Police were busy investigating several car crashes that occurred Sunday night during a rain surge that saturated some streets and caught some drivers off guard.

“I hit a big puddle of water on Kendall Avenue and spun out,” 44-year-old Loma Linda resident Harry Gentry said. “I didn’t see it coming but I knew when I hit it I was in trouble.”

Gentry said once his car stopped spinning and he realized he hadn’t hit anything or anyone, he pulled over to thank God. Gentry didn’t report the incident to police.

Officers on the scene said both drivers had minor injuries and the car in the house barely missed the natural gas meter. Officers on the scene said they were unsure how the crash happened and it was still under investigation.

“I was walking and then it was like a loud bang, then crunch,” 22-year-old Edward Morris said. “Then the other car crashed in the house.”

CHP officers at the scene said nobody was in the bedroom when the car crashed into it.
