REDLANDS >> A music teacher here suspected of possessing child pornography has been arrested, sheriff’s officials said Friday.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Details arrested Michael Freeland, 52, on Tuesday, according to a sheriff’s statement. He has since been released on bail. No arraignment date has been set.
On Sept. 26, 2013, detectives went to the 7000 block of Bobcat Lane in Highland in regards to suspected child pornography stored on electronic devices.
“I don’t know if Freeland was living at the Highland home, but his computers were there and someone else in that residence found the porn on those computers and reported it,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman.
In 1997, Freeland and another man opened up Music Lessons Central in San Bernardino, according to the business’ website. They moved the studio to Redlands in 2009.
According to Freeland’s biography on the site, he has played in bands and has opened for hard rock band Lynch Mob.
Calls to the studio on Friday went to a voice mailbox.
Investigators are concerned that he may have physically victimized children, Bachman said.
Anyone with information on the Freeland case is asked to contact Detective Jennifer Burkhart at the sheriff’s Crimes Against Children Detail at 909-387-3615.
