ADELANTO — The Adelanto Teachers Association and Adelanto Elementary School District have come to a tentative labor agreement after a more than yearlong battle between the two sides.
The agreement was reached and a memo was sent out by Superintendent Edwin Gomez at about 6 p.m. on Friday.
ADTA will now take the agreement to its members to ratify, according to the memo. If union members vote to ratify the deal, it will close the long-standing divide between teachers and district officials. A call to ADTA President Hector Anderson for comment on the specifics of the agreement was not immediately returned Saturday.
According to the district notice, the deal includes an increased salary and benefits package for teachers as well as additional instructional minutes. The memo states that "services" will also be increased "while maintaining fiscal responsibility."
"We would like to extend our gratitude to all stakeholders who participated in this process," Gomez wrote. "We are confident that the atmosphere of shared commitment to the educational achievement of our students will carry us into the future and will provide our students with unlimited possibilities."
