TRAFFIC COLLISION PREVENTION

The Hesperia Sheriff’s Station is making roadway safety a top priority in an effort to decrease the number of collisions. Please help us by doing your part to make the roadways safer. Drivers, bicyclist and pedestrians not obeying traffic rules should expect to be cited. If you are a pedestrian: Please walk on sidewalks when they are provided. If there is no sidewalk, walk in the dirt or as far from the roadway as you can. Walk facing traffic so that you can observe if a vehicle is drifting into your space. Cross roads at designated crosswalks. If you have to walk at night, wear light colored clothing so that you can be more easily seen by motorists. If you are a person driving on the roadway: Drive the appropriate speed for conditions. This includes being able to stop at traffic signals on roadways with greater speed limits. Obey traffic laws. Don’t drive distracted. Be watchful of persons walking alongside the roadway. If anyone should observe a dangerous situation, i.e. someone who appears to be driving or walking under the influence, a person walking in the roadway or attempting to cross illegally at a dangerous location, please contact law enforcement immediately. Hesperia Station also offers free driver safety classes to teens. Watch for announcements of upcoming classes and contact Karen Hunt to reserve a seat in the class.
