A 57-member team of Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters, six search dogs and two semi trucks worth of equipment were loaded onto a C-17 that landed at March about 9 p.m., said Inspector Chris Reade, a Fire Department spokesman. The team, known as USAID Team 2, is one of only two such crews certified and trained for such a mission. USAID Team 1, based in Virginia, is already in Nepal and providing feedback, Reade said.googleoff: all

The team is bringing concrete cutting equipment, chainsaws, search cameras and sonar to locate victims, specialized communications and generators, a news release from the state Office of Emergency Services said.googleoff: all

They could be in Nepal for up to 30 days, Reade said.
