A 51-year-old Fontana man allegedly stabbed his estranged wife to death and then attempted to kill himself, according to the Fontana Police Department.
On Friday, May 8 at about 3:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 8500 block of Oleander Avenue after the reporting party found a large amount of blood inside the home.
Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman with stab wounds. The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as Hope Reyes, 50, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner's Division.
The male subject was still breathing and transported to an area hospital.
It was later determined that Lucio Reyes stabbed the victim and then attempted to cut his own wrists and throat, but he survived, police said. He was absentee booked on a murder charge while recovering in the hospital.
