ADELANTO — A 73-year-old woman who died Wednesday afternoon after a fire broke out in her home in the 4200 block of El Mirage Road has been identified.
San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's officials reported Thursday that Eleanor Daugherty, 73, died around 1 p.m. Wednesday after being rescued from her burning home. San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters responded to reports of a fire in Daugherty's home around 12:28 p.m. As firefighters were driving to the home, authorities said they were receiving reports that there were people inside who would need to be rescued.
When firefighters arrived, they rescued Daugherty and performed CPR, but she was pronounced dead at 12:55 p.m.
Thirteen firefighters battled the blaze until it was extinguished atl 1:19 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire was the second fatal fire this week. A Monday night fire on Nielson Road in Pinon Hills claimed the life of a man and five dogs. The man has not yet been identified.
