Man arrested after woman is stabbed in Phelan

PHELAN — A woman was airlifted after being stabbed in the chest on Tuesday night, and deputies arrested a man in connection with the incident, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials said Thursday.

According to authorities, Ludwin Cruz, 18, of Phelan stabbed a woman in the chest around 10:39 p.m. "during an altercation" at a home in the 10400 block of Sheep Creek Road. Deputies said the victim left the home on foot and made it to her home in the 4000 block of Smoke Tree Road.

The victim called 9-1-1 and later was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.

Cruz was found at the home on Sheep Creek Road and authorities said he was arrested without incident. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
