JURUPA VALLEY, Calif.
A kitten likely used one of its nine lives after surviving a hawk attack. A Jurupa Valley woman says she was in her car with her 6-year-old daughter when she witnessed the hawk perched on a neighbor's basketball hoop with the kitten in its mouth.
"Mama cat was below on the ground, hissing away," Lindsey Gage said. The hawk lost its hold on the kitten as it was flying away, and the 5-week-old kitten fell to the ground. Gage scooped up the kitten and took it to Riverside County animal shelter where it was treated. The kitten is expected to survive.
