Police in Fontana were searching Monday for the assailant who beat and robbed a 74-year-old woman in a blitz attack outside her own home in broad daylight.
It happened around 10 a.m. on Saturday in the 8600 block of Blanchard Avenue.
The woman, who wished to remain unidentified, had just returned from running errands and was walking from her car to her house when she was hit from behind, she told KTLA.
She said the attacker was on her like “lightning.”
The attacker spun her around, punched her chest and knocked her back against her car, the woman said.
“And then [he] just kept beating on the side of my face until I lost unconscious,” she said.
The next thing she remembered was waking up on the ground, extremely confused.
“I stepped into the bathroom and looked at my face and there was just blood everywhere,” she said.
The woman called police and was taken to the hospital with a “softball-size contusion” to the left side of her face, according to the Fontana Police Department.
She was not able to provide a description of her attacker.
