Son allegedly threatened to attack father who worked at school
VICTORVILLE — Village Elementary School was briefly locked down Tuesday after a man threatened to attack his father, a school employee, authorities said.
According to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials, the school was locked down at 10:25 a.m., but the lock down was lifted minutes later. Deputies arrived at a home in the 16000 block of Merrill Street after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance at the home. Leslie Oldfield, 36, was allegedly yelling at his mother and threatening to attack his father at work. His father reportedly works at the elementary school in the 14700 block of Mojave Drive.
Authorities said Oldfield left the home in a white Ford sedan and the school was placed on lock down as a precaution in case he went to there.
A Sheriff's deputy in the area of Hesperia Road and Crestview Drive saw the vehicle and stopped it around 10:30 a.m. Oldfield was reportedly found inside the car and deputies suspected he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Oldfield was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto. Jail records on Tuesday afternoon show he has no court appearance scheduled and no bail amount set.
