APPLE VALLEY — The victim in a fatal vehicle rollover Saturday afternoon on Bowen Ranch Road has been identified as James Terrance Acevedo, 31, of Victorville, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner said.
Acevedo was killed when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the 1987 Jeep he was driving and the vehicle struck the berm on the east side of the road, officials said. The vehicle rolled over and Acevedo was partially ejected, suffering upper body trauma.
At some point during the crash, the vehicle caught fire.
The crash was reported at 4:21 p.m. south of Roundup Way. Cal Fire personnel arrived on scene and declared Acevedo dead at 4:49 p.m., officials said.
California Highway Patrol was investigating.
