A closure of southbound Interstate 15 at Kenwood Avenue in Devore is scheduled this week, followed by a closure of southbound lanes at Primm, Nevada.
The Cajon Pass southbound closure is schedule from 11:59 p.m. Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday. The indicated detour is to exit at Kenwood and immediately re-enter southbound I-15 using the Kenwood on-ramp.
Caltrans is advising southbound Interstate 15 motorists that there will be a full southbound closure at the California-Nevada state line from 1 to 4 a.m. Wednesday for overhead sign installation. All southbound I-15 traffic will be held at Primm because there are no viable detours to avoid the closure.
Truckers and other travelers are advised to plan ahead and avoid the closure. Those who must travel on southbound I-15 during the closure should be prepared, bring water and ensure their vehicle is in good running condition. There are parking and facilities available at Primm for food and restrooms.
The sign installation is part of the on-going $40 million project to build the new California Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility on southbound I-15 just south of Yates Well Road near the Nevada state line. The new facility will allow CHP officers to conduct inspections of commercial vehicles to identify unsafe conditions and equipment such as faulty brakes, steering and structurally deficient trucks and trailers.
The facility also will allow inspections for appropriate weight requirements for vehicles and trucks as set forth in the California Vehicle Code.

Cajon Pass Rehabilitation Project
Lane and shoulder reconstruction work continues with day and night work on the Interstate 15 Cajon Pass Rehabilitation Project.
Crews continue K-rail installation, excavation, hauling and paving in the south- and northbound directions. All ramps will remain open during the day but nighttime ramp closures may take place throughout the duration of the project.
A northbound managed traffic flow crossover, or bypass lane, from just south of Cleghorn Road at Blue Cut to the split — about 1 1/2 miles north of Highway 138 — will be in place for about two more weeks. Commercial vehicles, vehicles pulling trailers and buses are not allowed in the crossover.
There is no access to Cleghorn Road or Highway 138 from the crossover lanes.
There will be narrow lanes and limited emergency pull-off areas. Shoulders are accessible only on the mainline lanes; drivers who think they may need to use the shoulder are advised to stay in the mainline lanes.
The freeway shoulder along the project limits is for emergency vehicle access only. Automobiles blocking emergency response vehicles may be cited.
