DUI Patrol

The San Bernardino Police Department conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015. During this event 47 vehicles were stopped, 11 people were given field sobriety tests, 4 of which were arrested for driving under the influence (3 alcohol/ 1 drugs). 28 citations were issued for miscellaneous traffic violations, 6 citations were issued to drivers operating vehicles with a suspended or revoked drivers license, 10 citations were issued to unlicensed drivers, 16 vehicles were impounded.

This program is an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes. DUI saturation patrols are conducted to educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving while identifying offenders and getting them off of the street.

All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. The San Bernardino Police Department believes motorists can be deterred from drinking and driving through the education and enforcement activities conducted during DUI saturation patrols.

Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs – Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe. Report Drunk Drivers, Call 911.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
