Highland Police say on Saturday, June 6, Jessika Arroyo, 30, of San Bernardino purchased items online from Staples and requested to pick them up at the Highland Staples store.
Detective Michael Brandt says Arroyo used a fraudulent credit card to purchase the merchandise. At 4:15 p.m., Arroyo and Nicole DeMario, 41, of San Bernardino arrived at Staples to pick up the merchandise. In DeMario's possession was the fraudulent credit card. Both were taken into custody and later arrested.
Det. Brandt adds, a search of DeMario's 2015 Nissan Sentra that was parked in the front of Staples uncovered numerous receipts from other locations where the two suspects had purchased other items. There were also social security cards, birth certificates and other items indicating they were involved with identity theft.
On Friday, May 19, 2015, a vehicle was burglarized and suspects took cellphones, iPads, passports and other items. At the time of the theft the cellphone was GPS tracked to an address on Mesa Street in Muscoy, but deputies were unable to locate the suspects or their vehicle. The tracked address was next door to Arroyo and DeMario's address.
