SAN BERNARDINO >> Firefighters made quick work of a fire at a residential care facility for developmentally disabled adults on Friday evening.
The fire broke out around 6 p.m. at the Orchid Court care facility in the 300 block of Arrowhead Avenue, said San Bernardino fire Capt. Mike Arvizo.
“It first came through as a tree on fire but when we arrived we noticed it was an outbuilding that was on fire,” he said.
Some of the fire did make its way into the eves of the main buildings, but the flames caused minimal damage, he said.

Residents and employees were able to safely exit the facility as firefighters worked to put out the flames.
A few rooms sustained some damage due to radiant heat, Arvizo said.
No injuries were reported and residents and employees were allowed to return inside after the fire was extinguished.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
