A father was arrested Sunday after allegedly leaving an infant and 9-year-old in a vehicle while he was inside a Walmart for about 45 minutes, police said.
A Walmart employee discovered the children in a vehicle parked in the 2000 block of East Highland Avenue (map) and called officials, San Bernardino Police Department Lt. Rich Lawhead said around 6:30 p.m.
The 15-month-old baby and child appeared hot and disoriented when officials arrived and they were transported to a local hospital, Lawhead said.
Temperatures outside the vehicle were about 95 degrees, but the children were later found to be OK and were released to their mother.
The vehicle’s doors were unlocked and the windows were down when the children were discovered.
The father was inside the Walmart with an 8-year-old girl when the other children were found. He was arrested for alleged child endangerment,
