Public's help needed to ID crash victim Man died Sunday night after being struck by a car on Mai

HESPERIA — Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify a man who was died Sunday night after he was hit by a car on eastbound Main Street between 4th and 5th avenues.

Sheriff's Sgt. Doug Hubbard said that deputies received reports of the collision around 8:50 a.m. A deputy was reportedly in the area and arrived in less than five minutes to find the man down off the roadway near eastbound Main Street and 5th Avenue with "significant trauma." The man was transported to Desert Valley Medical Center by San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters. He died at the hospital at 9:47 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Office officials said.

Sheriff's investigators determined that the man was hit in the No. 2 lane of eastbound Main Street by a blue PT Cruiser. Authorities said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, but the collision is under investigation by the Hesperia Sheriff's Station Major Accident Investigation Team. Main Street was closed between 4th and 5th avenues for hours while investigators processed the scene.

The victim did not have identification on him and he has not been identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Office.
