A weekend street shooting left a 42-year-old woman critically wounded before dawn in front of a Highland elementary school, sheriff's officials say.googleoff: all

A passerby found the victim at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, July 12, outside Warm Spring Elementary School along Sterling Avenue, just north of Ninth Street.googleoff: all

The woman had been shot at least twice in the lower abdomen, sheriff's officials said in a written statement.googleoff: all

"The victim was incoherent and unable to give much information, other than it was a possible drive-by shooting," according to the statement.googleoff: all

She underwent emergency surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center where she was listed in critical but stable condition.googleoff: all
