ONTARIO Global video and e-commerce retailer QVC has selected the City of Ontario for the company’s first West Coast distribution center. When completed next summer, QVC’s new site will be one of city’s largest distribution centers and among the city’s top employers. The center is expected to employ more than 500 by 2018 expanding to 1,000 two years later. “I am excited to welcome QVC – the world’s leading video and ecommerce retailer – to the City of Ontario,” Mayor Paul S. Leon said. “The addition of QVC’s West Coast distribution center furthers the City Council’s goal to invest in growth that will continue to drive the city’s economy.” Officials from the Pennsylvania-based company finalized a lease agreement this week with property owners Sares-Regis that calls for the development of an approximately 1-million square foot building in Ontario at Fourth Street and Vineyard Avenue.
