On Sunday, July 12, at 1:15 a.m., a 42-year-old female victim was located, injured, on the sidewalk in front of Warm Springs Elementary, by a passer-by. When deputies arrived they found the victim had been shot at least twice in the lower torso. The victim was incoherent and unable to give much information, other than it was a possible drive by shooting. Deputies recovered several bullet casings in the southbound lanes of Sterling, just south of where the victim was found.
The victim was transported to Loma Linda with severe injuries and underwent surgery. She is listed in critical but stable condition.
