2 women who died at HARD Summer in Pomona identified


POMONA, Calif.

Both women who died of suspected drug overdoses after attending HARD Summer in Pomona have been identified.Tracy Nguyen, an 18-year-old West Covina resident, was transported to San Dimas Community Hospital after collapsing at the music festival Saturday.Katie Dix, a 19-year-old Camarillo resident, was also found unresponsive and transported to Pomona Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Autopsies are expected later this week. Los Angeles County supervisor are calling for an investigation into the deaths. Supervisor Hilda Solis says she will introduce a motion at Tuesday's board meeting asking that the county consider banning major music festivals on county property pending the outcome of the investigation. According to Live Nation, one woman was suffering from cardiac arrest. The other woman had possible seizure symptoms. The two-day event drew about 65,000 people and included performances by The Weeknd, Jack U, The Chemical Brothers, Dillon Francis, Schoolboy Q and Rae Sremmurd. HARD Summer was previously held at the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area near South El Monte and at the Los Angeles State Historic Park near Chinatown.
