SKY FOREST SBC Lawmen have taken down two more large marijuana cultivations in the San Bernardino National Forest. Investigators found 4,389 marijuana plants and camping equipment about one mile south of Highway 18 near the community of Skyforest. But, the growers living within the site and caring for the marijuana plants had fled. Authorities said the suspects had cut away and cleared the natural brush along the mountainside to plant the marijuana resulting in irreversible damage to the forest. The suspects were in the process of harvesting the marijuana. A smaller cultivation of about 800 pot plants has been uprooted from the Skinner Creek area off Highway 38 near Angelus Oaks. One suspect was arrested after a foot pursuit. Early last week, law enforcement officers interrupted the harvest of a large marijuana cultivation hidden away in Day Creek Canyon. Investigators found 4,278 thriving pot plants only about a mile from the Rancho Cucamonga city limits in the San Bernardino National Forest.
