Nearly 10,000 firefighters continue to make good progress on 17 active wildfires burning in California. With the threat of thunderstorms gone and with a return to seasonal weather, the improved conditions should provide firefighters a continued opportunity to gain the upper hand on many of these fires. California is getting extra assistance from several nearby states. The Rocky Fire is the largest and most destructive fire. It has expanded to parts of Lake, Colusa & Yolo counties, east of Lower Lake. *69,636 acres – 62% contained *Many evacuations have been lifted. Some remain in effect.
