INLAND EMPIRE – Ceremonies marking the fourteenth anniversary of 9/11 are planned throughout the region Friday.
In Riverside, a Ringing of the Bell ceremony by a fire department honor guard is planned at 9:30am outside the County Administrative Center. Firefighters from Riverside went to New York after the 2001 terrorist attacks to assist with rescue efforts and disaster relief. Other events are planned at Riverside City Hall and La Sierra University. In Chino Hills, A wreath will be placed in front of a World Trade Center replica at Fire Station 66. In San Bernardino, a memorial service begins at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall Plaza with the presentation of a memorial wreath and military colors, and a release of doves. There will also be a bell ringing ceremony to honor the firefighters who died. The service includes the re-dedication of a monument bearing the names of the San Bernardino residents who died in the 9/11 tragedy: Cora Holland, and Rhonda Sue Ridge Rasmussen, who graduated from San Gorgonio High School in 1974.
