CORONA, Calif.
Lane closures on the westbound 91 Freeway through Corona due to storm damage created a massive traffic backup Wednesday morning. Two westbound lanes were shut down Tuesday near the Green River Road on-ramps after rain water eroded the road bed. Lanes are expected to reopen by Thursday morning. Motorists were advised to take the 60 or 10 freeways as alternates to get around the bottleneck. That area has also been under construction since July 2014.
About 280,000 commuters use that stretch of the 91 Freeway every day.
