HESPERIA — A Hesperia woman who died after having a medical emergency while driving a school bus has been identified, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials said.
Gwyndolyn Wilhemson-Dennis, 27, was identified by the Sheriff-Coroner as the driver of the Hesperia Unified School District bus that crashed into two mailboxes Sept. 15.
Wilhemson-Dennis suffered a medical emergency while driving the bus on 3rd Avenue in Hesperia. For reasons still under investigation, Wilhemson-Dennis pulled the bus onto the dirt shoulder and struck 2 mailboxes before coming to a stop, California Highway Patrol officials said in a press release.
Officials provided medical aid on scene and Wilhemson-Dennis was transported to Desert Valley Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Authorities disclosed little else about Wilhemson-Dennis's illness or her medical condition prior to the crash.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Wilhemson-Dennis, named as Wilhemson Lundgren on the page. The donations will be used to help raise money for funeral expenses.
The rest of the money will go into a trust for Wilhemson-Dennis's 22-month-old son, according to the GoFundMe page.
