Forty people were arrested and 18 pounds of methamphetamine were seized during a gang enforcement sweep Friday in Fontana.
The eight-hour operation generated multiple arrests for possession of stolen vehicles, narcotics charges, probation and parole violations, and numerous outstanding warrants.
About seven dozen officers and deputies from the San Bernardino County Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Unit conducted the sweep.
SMASH is a joint effort by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to prevent gang activity in the county. Several Fontana police officers are part of the unit.
