Submissions Open for Community Calendar Photo Contest

(Apple Valley)– The Town of Apple Valley invites local amateur and professional photographers to take their best shot…and then enter them in the 2016 Community Calendar Photo Contest.

This year’s theme focuses on what makes Apple Valley a “Better Way of Life.” Special events, Healthy Apple Valley, local shopping opportunities, great recreation programs and more have helped us earn the title of “Best City to Live In” by readers of the Daily Press.

People who live, work, volunteer or attend school in Apple Valley are eligible to submit entries that highlight any of these facets of life in Apple Valley. The contest is open to both adults and children and recognition will be given in both professional and amateur categories. Selected contest entries may be published in our 2016 Community Calendar.

Entries showcasing local people, places and activities are encouraged such as:

  • Healthy Apple Valley programs like VANtastic

  • Special events such as Freedom Festival and Sunset Concerts

  • Local pets or shots from the Paws N’ Claws Pet Fair

  • Recycling programs or clean-up day activities

  • Activities at the Civic Center pool

  • Other green, healthy or recreational programs

Participants can enter on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter as well by using the hash tag #. Our favorites may be used in a collage in the calendar. Use of the hashtag indicates permission to publish your photo and user name to Town social media sites, websites, or other printed or electronic materials.

Entries are due October 1 by 5 p.m. at Town Hall or via email to cengeron@applevalley.org. Submission forms must be turned in for each entry and are available at www.AppleValley.org under the Public Information Department or by request at Town Hall or by calling (760)240-7000 X 7072.
