Chino police raid San Bernardino home in connection to shooting case

SAN BERNARDINO >> Chino police raided a home in the 3400 block of Ferndale Street here on Thursday searching for a suspect in a shooting case.

Chino police detectives and members of the Ontario Police Department served a search warrant at the San Bernardino home shortly after 5 p.m., Chino police spokeswoman Tamrin Olden said.

“A teenaged boy was arrested after detectives found evidence linking him to the September 4 shooting,” she said.

The identity of the boy, 17, was withheld because he is a minor.

The shooting happened at the Ramona Village Liquor store in the 12100 block of Ramona Avenue.

“Some customers outside the store had a confrontation and when one of the parties tried to drive away the other party fired a gun, striking the car but not anyone inside,” she said. “Evidence and eyewitness statements brought officers to the San Bernardino home tonight.”

Police were still looking for another person in connection with the shooting.

The teen was arrested and booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall in San Bernardino on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
