“Usually, non-work related misdemeanors do not result in disciplinary action,” county Chief Executive Officer Greg Devereaux said in a written statement released Friday. “However, given the nature of this incident and Mr. Lamberto’s position in the county organization, I determined that significant discipline should be imposed, and it was.”googleoff: allgoogleon: all

Lamberto did not immediately respond to a request for comment that was left on his cell phone’s voice mail. He expressed remorse, though, in a comment attributed to him in the county’s statement.googleoff: allgoogleon: all

Asked why officials waited seven months to disclose the conviction, county spokesman David Wert said that the statement was a response to a blog posting earlier this week.googleoff: allgoogleon: all

Lamberto has worked for San Bernardino County since 2005 when he was hired as director of human resources.googleoff: allgoogleon: all
According to his resume posted on the Cal State website, he is responsible for all human resource programs covering 21,000 regular and part-time workers.googleoff: allgoogleon: all
He also is responsible for a staff of 200 employees, according to his resume, and overseeing 16 memorandums of understanding, as well as preparing and administering an annual budget of about $16 million.googleoff: allgoogleon: all

He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1985 from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Penn., and a master’s degree in organizational management in 1997 from the University of Phoenix.
