HESPERIA — San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials asked for the public's help Thursday in identifying a suspect who tried to steal a vehicle last month at a Hesperia drugstore before he discovered two passengers in the back seat.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man between the ages of 35 and 45, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and a mustache, officials said in an news release.
The incident was first reported Sept. 25 at a Walgreens at 17303 Main St. Surveillance video showed the man left the store shortly before 6 p.m. and entered the victim's 2010 Nissan Sentra, which was left running in the parking lot with a female adult and her infant in the rear seat.
The man then turned to look out the back window while backing up the victim’s vehicle and realized the back seat was occupied. He then put the vehicle in park and fled on foot, officials said.
The man reportedly walked southbound along I Avenue to an unknown location and has yet to be found, according to officials.
