COLTON >> Strong winds caused a small fire at a homeless encampment Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

Colton and San Bernardino firefighters responded to calls at 3:46 p.m. about a fire near the northbound 215 freeway ramp and 10 freeway interchange.

What probably began as a warming or cooking fire spread out of control due to strong winds, fire officials said.

The fire was contained within 15 minutes, and there were no injuries.
