RIALTO >> Six people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint Friday night in Rialto, officials said.
Rialto Police organized a DUI/Driver License checkpoint at a Home Depot, screening eastbound traffic on Foothill Boulevard, west of Cedar Avenue. Of the 509 vehicles that entered the checkpoint , 308 drivers were screened further for potentially driving under the influence or being unlicensed.
Police arrested three men for DUI, one man for possession of a stolen vehicle and two suspects with outstanding warrants, said Rialto Corp. Cameron Nelson.
Funding for DUI checkpoints is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “targeting those who still don’t heed the message to designate a sober driver,” according to a news release.
