INLAND EMPIRE – Fontana police have killed two men in as many days in a pair of unrelated officer-involved shootings. A would-be robber wielding a knife and a large rock was confronted inside a Chevron gas station on Sierra Avenue at Slover early Sunday. Officers say they tried to get the man to surrender, but he walked toward them and was shot. Earlier Friday, a man with a gun causing a disturbance was slain when officers confronted him in the front yard of a residence. A neighbor said he’d been banging on her door in the middle of the night. Officer-involved shootings across the Inland Empire have claimed five lives so far this month. Seven people were killed during October.
