San Bernardino pizzeria reopens after car crashes through restaurant wall

SAN BERNARDINO >> All Star Pizza was back in business Wednesday, less than 24 hours after a car plowed through its back wall, sending customers and debris flying.

“We thankfully opened our doors on time today,” pizzeria owner Sam Maayah said. “The couple that was hit by the car came in today just to tell me they were fine.”

Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, a man, whom police haven’t identified, suffered from an epileptic type of seizure and crashed his white Honda Accord through the back cinder-block wall of the pizzeria at 2601 Del Rosa Ave.

The impact sent the couple, who were on the opposite side of the wall, flying across the room.

“If he knew he was prone to seizures he shouldn’t have been driving,” Maayah said. “He could have really hurt or killed someone.”

The driver and the couple were taken to a local hospital where they were treated and released, police said.

It’s unclear if police cited the driver.
