Hit-and-Run Driver Deliberately Strikes Man in Apple Valley


Dispatch received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on the 13300 block of Mohawk Road. The incident was reported at about 9:50 P.M., on Sunday, November 29, 2015.

After striking the pedestrian the driver of the vehicle continued to drive away from the scene. Upon arrival, officers located the victim conscious and lying on the ground with a possible broken left ankle. The victim is described as a 53-year-old black Male Adult in a silver 90’s model Dodge Stratus. Police say the victim was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

Police searched the immediate area and within minutes located the suspect vehicle near Central Road and Ottawa Road in Apple Valley.

According to police scanner chatter, police believe the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation earlier in the day. The suspect made threats to the victim that he would run him over with his vehicle. The suspect followed through with his promises and allegedly used his vehicle and intentionally struck the victim. The suspect will be detained for assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital where he was later airlifted to an out of area trauma center. The extent of his injuries and condition are currently unknown.
