VICTORVILLE, Calif.
Police chased a possibly armed suspect in a white Nissan Sentra from the area near Los Angeles International Airport to Victorville late Friday night. After leading CHP and other agencies on a chase for more than an hour, the suspect surrendered peacefully at a Victorville gas station after midnight. Witnesses said it appeared family members were at the AM/PM station to greet him as he gave himself up to officials. The chase began around 11 p.m. when Los Angeles Police Department officers tried to pull over someone who may have been armed with a gun. The suspect fled on the westbound 105 Freeway, then exited in the Westchester area and got on the eastbound 105 Freeway. With LAPD and CHP officers in pursuit, the vehicle switched to the 605 Freeway toward the Santa Fe Springs area, then moved to the 210 Freeway and headed past Rancho Cucamonga into San Bernardino County. Eventually, the vehicle headed up the 15 Freeway through the Cajon Pass, where CHP officers used a spike strip to pop his tires. The suspect eventually surrendered at the AM/PM station in Victorville.
