A 10-year-old boy was bitten in the face during an attack by a neighbor's dog while the child was walking home from school with his grandmother in San Bernardino Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 1:20 p.m. in the 900 block of N. Mayfield Avenue, according to Eileen Hards with San Bernardino Police Department.
When the dog attacked her grandson, the woman tried to intervene, only to have the animal turn on her, Hards said.
It took several neighbors to finally pull the dog off the woman who suffered a serious bite wound to her leg.
"It took the whole neighborhood to get the dog off," said witness Edgar Ramos.
Both victims were transported to the hospital in unknown condition, Hards said.
"The grandmother got bit on her leg real bad," witness Eli Nelson said. "The dog was shaking her up. My wife thinks her leg is broken. It was real bad."
Neighbor's told KTLA they have had issues with this dog in the past.
"He's got in our yard one time and pushed through the gate," Nelson said. "I had to rewire the fence because I have a 6-year-old daughter and worry about something like that happening to her."
The dog was seized by animal control officers.
