Seven children were removed from a home in Twentynine Palms Saturday after the residence was found to be uninhabitable. Two people, including the children's mother, were arrested. San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies from the Morongo Basin Station conducted a traffic stop near Hatch and Morongo roads around 8:25 p.m. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Arsenio Jones, was found to be on felony probation for a narcotics offense and driving on a suspended license. The passenger, identified as 31-year-old Brandon Brown, had a warrant out for his arrest, authorities said. The two men were detained and then taken to Jones' home in the 72600 block of Foothill Drive to conduct a search of the place. Authorities made contact with a woman named Danielle Reid and her seven children at the house. When deputies went into the home, they found the place to be in uninhabitable conditions. Deputies said there was no food and water covered the floors from blocked plumbing. They added that there appeared to be animal poop on the bedroom floor where people slept, trash was everywhere, rats ran around the garage and cockroaches infested several parts of the house.
Deputies arrested Jones and Reid on suspicion of felony child neglect. They were booked into the Morongo Jail. Jones is being held without bail, while Reid is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Brown was arrested and booked in lieu of $25,000 bail. The Department of Children and Family Services were contacted and took custody of the children.
