Herschel Hughes, 76, who was reported missing Wednesday was found in Redlands Friday. Hughes was recently diagnosed with early stages of Alzheimer’s.
REDLANDS >> An employee at the San Bernardino County sheriff’s Twin Peaks station was shopping in Redlands when they spotted a man who was reported missing on Wednesday.
Herschel Rolland Hughes, 76 of Lake Arrowhead, was last seen driving a red 2014 Nissan pathfinder south on 215 Freeway Wednesday morning.
He has been diagnosed with early stages of Alzheimer’s.
Sheriff’s officials said on their official Twitter page that Hughes was spotted by one of their employees who was shopping with their family.
It’s unclear if the employee was a sworn deputy or a civilian employee.
On Thursday, the San Bernardino police asked for the public’s help finding Hughes.
“Mr. Hughes was found at the San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands by someone who recognized him from church,” San Bernardino police spokeswoman Eileen Hards said. “They saw him and notified the family and authorities. He was a little dehydrated and appeared to be disoriented but was otherwise in good condition.”
