RIALTO >> A Fontana man accused of attacking his pregnant girlfriend, causing her to lose their child, is expected to be in court Thursday to answer to murder charges, court records show.
Jamal Williams, 24, is scheduled to be in West Valley Superior Court in Rancho Cucamonga following his arrest Wednesday morning at his home, arrests records indicate.
The attack took place March 29 in Rialto, according to Lt. Paul Stella with the Rialto Police Department.
“The victim reported it on the 30th after experiencing complications,” said Stella.
At the time of the alleged assault, the woman was about six months pregnant, which is far enough along to qualify for a murder arrest and filing, officials said.
Investigators had to wait for the coroner to conduct an autopsy on the fetus to determine its cause of death, Stella said. After receiving the results, an arrest warrant was issued for Williams and he was arrested, officials said.
Along with the murder charge, Williams is also facing charges of domestic violence and assault with great bodily harm, court documents show.
