Weekend events: San Bernardino used book sale among things to do in the Inland Valley


Used Book Sale: The Friends of the San Bernardino Public Library are planning a used book sale on Saturday at the Norman F. Feldheym Central Library, 555 W. 6th Street in San Bernardino. The members-only sale is from 9 a.m. to noon. The public is welcome from noon to 4 p.m. More than 10,000 books will be available for $1 or less. There will be a follow-up Bag Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23. Buy a grocery bag for only $2 and fill it up with your choice of books. Information: 909-381-8251 or

Senior Art Show: George R. Gibson Senior Center will host its first art exhibit from 6-8 p.m. on Friday showcasing the creative talents of the students who participate in the “Art for 50 Plus” class instructed by Marion Steese. All are welcome to attend the exhibit and refreshments will be provided. Marion and her students will also be in attendance to answer any questions regarding their work. Landscape Design Workshop: Learn how to garden while reducing your water use with an indoor presentation by Debbi Figoni from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Ontario Museum of History & Art. Tribute Band Concerts: Listen to great music at the free summer concerts every Friday evening from 7- 9 p.m. on the Promenade at The Shoppes at Chino Hills. Guests can shop, dine and hear some of their most-loved tunes played in an open-air setting through July 29. Today, the Abba tribute band Abba Fabba will perform. Family Films: Bring the family, bring a picnic, bring some lawn chairs to the San Bernardino County Museum for family favorite films. Friday night, the film will be the G-rated “Rio,” with “Princess Bride,” shown on August 5 and August 19 with “Robots,” both rated PG. Movies are shown at 7 p.m. in the museum’s courtyard. Movies, sponsored by the Museum Association, are free for Museum members and $5 for non-members. Popcorn is free. The San Bernardino County Museum is at 2024 Orange Tree Lane in Redlands. Healthy Redlands Walking Program: Adults and children are invited to meet people and improve their fitness through the Healthy Redlands Summer Walking Program. The walk begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Sylvan Park 601 N. University Street. The program is designed to help participants gradually work toward a goal of walking 10,000 steps each Saturday. Pedometers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to track participants’ steps and are to be returned at the end of each walk. There is no cost to participate.
