At least five people have died in a tour bus crash in California’s Central Valley early Tuesday, according to local media.
According to Fresno TV station KMPH, the California Highway Patrol said the bus was heading north on Highway 99 near Atwater when it swerved and hit a pole around 3:30 a.m. local time. Officers say the pole went through the bus.
Another Fresno TV station, KFSN, reported that the bus was heading from Southern California to Sacramento. The station said five injured passengers were airlifted to local hospitals while emergency personnel worked to free others trapped in the wreckage.
