Popular home shopping network QVC cut the ribbon on its newest distribution center in Ontario Monday. The facility is a more than 1-million square-foot warehouse that comes down to one thing for people in the community - jobs.
"We'll definitely take a critical role for our company in shipping the packages for the holidays. We're excited that we've hired so far 170 new team members to take part in fulfilling that obligation for our company and our customers," General Manager Zach Hetrick said. QVC plans to ship as much as 20 percent of its products from the Ontario distribution center. Everything from cosmetics to clothing to household goods. "This is actually our first distribution center past Pennsylvania, so we're excited to ship approximately 20 percent of our packages through this distribution center," Hetrick said. Before it's all said and done, the business plans to hire more than 1,000 people. Some employees said they are hoping to grow within the company for many years to come. "We are very excited for the community. All of the wonderful people that we've gotten and we're just excited to serve the West Coast," employee Ladona Orcutt said.
