21 hurt in Southern California train-truck collision

Several minor injuries were reported in a Metrolink accident Tuesday that could have been much worse. A commuter train collided with a big rig in Sun Valley causing multiple injuries, authorities said.

The crash was reported in the 8200 block of San Fernando Rd. at 10:39 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). Twenty-one people, all from the train, were transported to hospitals with minor injuries, according to a fire department alert. The driver of the truck was not hurt. Just before noon, the train resumed its route, with a 1 hour, 45 minute delay, according to a tweet from Metrolink. A total of 187 passengers were on the train’s six cars, the LAFD said. It wasn't immediately clear why the truck's trailer was on the tracks. The fire department deployed 13 ambulances and 75 firefighters.
