Hazing among high school athletes, including accusations that ritual sexual beatings were prevalent at Oak Hills High School
HESPERIA — ESPN's "Outside the Lines" will air an episode 7 p.m. Tuesday that investigates hazing among high school athletes, including accusations that ritual sexual beatings were prevalent at Oak Hills High School.
In August 2014, the Daily Press first reported that a lawsuit had been filed by the mother of a purported victim and, in early July, this newspaper reported on depositions in the suit that provided details into alleged locker room harassment.
ESPN, which has been investigating a series of incidents in the U.S. and Canada for eight months, spoke on camera with former Oak Hills High football player Josh Villegas, 17, who says he was sodomized as a freshman by two older teammates.
A status hearing on the lawsuit, which an attorney said this summer could begin trial late this month, is scheduled Sept. 22, court records show.
